High tech solar and high speed rail: a cautionary tale from China

Patrick Chovanec is an American scholar living and teaching in China.  In an op ed for the Wall Street Journal and again – more fully – on his own blog, he explored what he calls “China’s Solyndra Economy,” in which he advises that “(g)overnment subsidies to green energy and high-speed rail have led to mounting losses and costly bailouts. This is not a road the U.S. should travel.”
