US, Japan to test combustible ice technology on Alaskan North SlopeOctober 25, 2011
Methane gas hydrates, colloquially termed “combustible ice,” represent a potentially huge alternative energy source.
The US has trailed China in the development of clathrates. But today comes news that the US Department of Energy, Conoco Phillips and the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals Corporation have announced a project to attempt to develop technologies to harvest methane hydrates from Alaska’s North Slope. See this post at Al Fin Energy for details on this project.
